    moving states with a breathalyzer

What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? NC

I have a breathalyzer on my vehicle that is not eligible to come off until August. I have accepted a job in Tennessee that will start in December. From what I can gather from Monitech's website, (the company in NC that handles breathalyzers), they are only in NC.

Does anyone know (1) What the company in TN is called and will I have to go have one system taken off and a different company's system put on?

    (2) I have also heard court rulings in one state may not be applicable in another, and that TN is relatively lenient compared to NC. Is there any chance that getting a DL in TN will allow me to take off the device as long as I don't get a NC DL again?

Are you ever required to bring the unit in for testing?
Did anyone ever put resraints on where you could bring the vehicle or who could drive it?
Who's to say that you didn't leave your vehicle in Tennessee for others to drive....

If your not driving in NC and you don't get any tickets elsewhere then I don't see how you could have a problem. But then again, what do I know?

    Insane Jane-

To answer your question, I am required to have the machine recalibrated every two months for a year. I have my next appointment in mid december. I suppose I could drive the five hours every time until August but I would rather not. i will be off of supervised probation after January 27th. Until then I am required to have permission to leave the state. But that is independent of the DMV requirements of having the interlock system on my car.

I am specifically trying to find out without going to the dmv or calling the company that has a monopoly in NC what my options are for transferring my residence to TN and how that will affect having this unit on my car until August.

Most states will not issue you a license with a license restricted in another state. You'll have to get reinstated in NC first.

Actually that makes perfect sense. I didn't even consider that angle. Thanks.
