Need help with reinstating license

What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Minnesota

My son was wrongfully accused of a DWI last fall and he has since been discharged of those charges because he was not driving the vehicle. The driver has come forward and plead guilty so the State has discharged all charges against my son. Now I am unable to get his license back without paying the $1,000 and I think this is wrong. I was told a Recind Order sent to the DMV would be sufficient to have it reinstated but now I have been told our Public Defender did not file the appropriate Orders last fall. Any advice as to how I proceed?

Just a layperson here, but if it were me, I'd write a kind letter of request to the public defender with a copy to his county supervisor and a copy to the director of the DMV in your state. I would not reprimand the PD for an oversight, rather I would simply make it a request and thank all for their assistance in this matter. Send it certified.

Better yet....

Her son should handle this. It's his license.
