| | | In need of some advice What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? AZ
I was stopped for a DUI 5 days ago I blew a .086 and I'm still waiting on the results of the blood test hopefully it will show a lower number. This is my first and last DUI so I was wondering what is the best way to handle this should I get a lawyer? What would they be able to do for me? Also in the ticket I received to appear in court there are a couple of mistakes such as my license number is completely wrong also my birthdate is wrong, can I use these mistakes to have my ticket dropped. Thanks for any adviceWhat is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? |

| | | Clerical errors are not going to get a DUI dropped. A lawyer can look at the details to see if there is a defense, or at least mitigate the sanctions. Arizona isn't anything to screw around with. There's a 10 day mandatory minimum but can be suspended down to one day, plus a ignition interlock, etc... on the first offense.

| | | Phoenix Dave,
I had the same circumstance...stopped for speeding, blew a .086 by the side of the road, did all the fst's and elected to have blood drawn which came back later at a .09. I got a lawyer..in CA, mind you and it cost $2500. Ended up getting it reduced to wet and reckless...15 week dui class, $1000 fine, plus towing/impound and all the rest of insurance, class and dmv expenses which all together with lawyer fees has cost me $5000 so far. With the wet and reckless I did not have to do any community service or work alternative though. I would get a lawyer for sure. Interview a few first, it's free and ask them their success rates as well as how much of their business is in Dui's. Every state and county are different and although the penalty is severe for wet and reckless, it's a little less than dui and I hope is perceived in the future by other employers etc. a little better, who knows? |

Please refrain from confusing things.
The ONLY thing that you said that was helpful was " I would get a lawyer for sure" | |
