Ordinance Violation in Chicago Park District

What is the name of your state? IL
I got a ordinance violation for drinking a can of beer in a chicago park. They told me i can't pay through mail and I have to go to the court date given. Do I need a lawyer, or should I even bring one? What type of penalty might I be looking at? Any info would be great. Thanks for your help
