Out Of State Bench Warrant

What is the name of your state? NC
After not being able to make my court appearance and having to leave NC to help family three years ago, I am now wanting to return to NC, but suspect there may be a bench warrant out for me in NC - how do I find this out for sure?
I emailed the county sherrifs dept - no answer.
A friend w/The state police ran a check on me w/ my DOB and nothing showed up - ????
Please advise so I can move on and face the music or not....greenmountain
