Question

Out of state DUI

I live in colorado. I was driving from colorado to minnesota and while going through nebraska i smashed up my car. i had been drinking and was way over the limit. i was transported to a hospital about 100 miles from the accident. after i had been there for an hour or so a sheriff's deputy asked me for blood and said i was suspected of driving under the influence. I told him that i did not know the law in NE and that i wanted to call a lawyer. he fought with me awhile but then finally brought me a phone. the lawyer said give it up or lose my license for a year. so i signed a consent form and gave blood. after that i never saw the officer again. the next day i checked myself out of the hospital, rented a car and drove back to colorado. i was very banged up and in bad shape so i could not proceed to minnesota. this happened on may 28 of 2003. i have recieved nothing from them in the way of a ticket or summons. every other party i dealt with, the hospital, the doctors, the fire department, and even the junkyard (for towing my wrecked car) have sent me bills. i gave my address to them all in the way of a copy of my drivers license. I have done nothing to hide from them. still, l nothing from the courts or law agencies there. I have since taken up AA and have a sponser. This was stupid and i know that. I am not trying to avoid my responsibility but i also dont want to be a lamb!! What should i do???? thanks!! TT

well i dont know if all the states follow the same law but i got a dui out of state. fortunally i wasnt involved in a wreck but i was arrest and brought before the judge the following day I was told I could not drive in the state for 6 months the my privligages for driving in that state were suspended. and that I would be recieving a court date I got the date 6 months later in which I attended I pleaded no contest and was fined 500. plus i had to serve the mandatory 24 hrs. here's the catch I DIDNT LOSE MY FLA DRIVING PRIVLEGES til my conviction, fornaunitly for me I had moved to the state were i had gotten the dui and applied for a license there. fla got the conviction and suspeened my license for a yr. but being i was no longer a resident of fla. i was able to get my wv license cause i had already did the 6 months waiting for my court date and in reality i didnt really lose my privileges at all cause i spent the winter in fla and came back here as a resident Oh BTW my insurance was even cheaper here even with the dui and a moving violation. I guess I just got lucky. but be advised you will receive a court date, you are not guilty til you have your court date.so until your state get something from the state were the infraction occurred you still ( not 100% sure ) have your driving privileges
