I'm 19 years old, got busted at a party along with about 15 other students.
Basically what happened was police walked up to garage door and came in and started handing out tickets after a noise complaint. Not sure about how proper that procedure was, but what can you do.
My question is this: is there any use in going to court and trying to get this taken off of my permanent record or is it a lost cause? The officer on the scene that I talked to told me that the court option really isn't too complicated, and because I have already paid the court fees (as part of the $294 ticket) that I might as well go. Any advice on what to do in the courthouse?
For the record, I am NOT trying to get out of the charges, I will plead guilty, I cooperated fully with the officers on duty - talked to them for over a half an hour about legal questions and was entirely cooperative (this includes with the officer who would be appearing with me in court). Not sure if that counts for anything because I am assuming the judge would be passing the judgment and not the officer (though his input would probably help).
OR should I just pay the fine and deal with the record later in life, i.e.-my first job interview - ?????
Thanks for any help you can provide |
