Questions to ask prospective lawyers? What is the name of your state? Washington Well I had my arrangment today and it seemed to go fairly well... Just went in and plead not quilty and left. I have decided that I don't really feel like getting a public defender even though I told the court I would look into getting one. Instead I would rather hire a lawyer that would hopefully since I'm paying him/her be more inclined to give me the best representation possible. My question is though are there any questions that I should ask the lawyer to help determine if he's the right one for the job. I'm compling my own questions but there is always a few that I could tend to forget to throw in there so any help is much appreciated. Again thank you all for the help you have provided in this dark moment. |

Lawyer adviseTalk to at least three different lawyers. I talked to only two, and got screwed. I went with the high priced optimistic guy. He told me stories of mis-calibrated machines, absent police officers, etc. I ended up getting the minimal, and paying big bucks to a lawyer, for nothing. Suddenly on the day of my hearing, my lawyer's tune changed, and next thing I know he was talking me into to taking their plea bargin offer. Lots of people I have talked to since, said they got the minimum without a lawyer, just by representing themselves. So, my advice is see at least three lawyers, and go with the lowest priced guy that is not too optimistic about your aquittial. |
