Renewal of MI Drivers License Denied

What is the name of your state? Michigan

I was arrested for DUI in the state of IL. in 1991, while I was stationed there in the Navy. Went to court paid the fines and all of that, got out of the service in 1991 and moved back to Michigan. Yesterday I went to renew my MI drivers license and was asked if I had a ticket outstanding in IL., I said no, as I do not. Well MI Secretary of State gave me the phone number for IL. Secretary of State and said I would have to clear up whatever it was before I could renew license in MI. Well come to find out IL. law takes your driving privaleges for DUI and you have to go through an Administrative hearing to have privaleges re-instated. IL. did not get on the National Database until about 3 years ago is my guess, since I have had no problem with getting my MI. drivers license for the past 14 years. I have sent the request to IL. for an out-of-state hearing package, but in the meantime I am without a valid drivers license in MI for however long it takes them to mail it to me and return it for processing. If anyone knows of anything I can do in the meantime to get IL. sec. of state to send MI something so I can get my License? Or if there is precedent for going thru the MI. courts to do something about it. Maybe I am wrong but I find this whole thing rediculous being it is from 15 years ago, and why it would be retro-active to be put on the National Databse from at least 12 years prior.
