SR-22 in CA

What is the name of your state? CA

Hi there,

I was convicted for DUI in Sep 05; Court ordered me to do volunteer work and sent me for 3 year unsupervised probation. My license was suspended in CA. Before the court ruling, I moved out of CA to NJ. So, I requested the CA DMV to waive the suspension to get a license in other state. They are asking me to provide NJ address proof (that I have) and SR-22 insurance. I sold my car and I do not have a car now. Why do they need it? I asked them same question but they says if I want a license in other state they need it. If I have to maintain SR-22 then how long? What if I cancel my insurance after I get a license in other state? Can somebody shred some light please?

Thanks,
DUIculprit

**A: sorry, my flashlight fell in the disposal so it can't shred some light any longer.

Having the court waive your DUI is very generous. I believe sr-22s must be carried for 3 years.

The thing with sr-22s is that they dont cost much, but when insurance companies see that you need one a red flag is triggered thus increased insurance rates.

Yeah thats me just telling what i know. Im pretty sure im wrong but at least i try.
