Ticket while driving with a DWI suspension in NJ

What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? New Jersey

I am currently serving a license suspension for a DWI in New Jersey. I was pulled over in New Jersey in my fiance's car the other day (I know I shouldn't have been driving, but I needed to for work) because she did not have a valid inspection sticker. I live in Pennsylvania, but received the DWI and this ticket in NJ( I work in NJ). The officer took my license and her registration, and came back and only gave me a ticket for the lack of inspecion sticker. I assummed I would have been arrested for driving on the suspended license, but was not. My question is, what will happen now? Will this ticket affect my license suspension, i.e., will I be subject to the additonal year suspension and fine and possible jail time? Should I pay this ticket?
Any help on this issue would be greatly, greatly appreciated!
Thanks.

if your DUI was a 1st offense and you had a PA DL then PA did not suspend you. NJ may have suspended your privilege to drive in NJ but PA shows you have a valid DL. Evidently NJ DMV dropped the ball. If I were you I would pay the fine for no inspection sticker right away. NJ does not give a hardship license so if you have to drive to work then you have to drive to work. But NJ police are ALWAYS looking for a reason to pull you over - no seatbelt, just holding your cellphone while driving, the little light over your license plate is out, etc. You should keep this in mind. They also scan license plate numbers for suspended drivers. Sounds to me like you got very lucky here. You should be in jail.

Thanks for the info

Thanks for the info....I realize how luck I am I wasn't locked up on the spot. I have 6 1/2 weeks to go w/ my suspension, and really am praying that this ticket will not affect the end of my suspension. Hopefully, the messy DMV will not pick it up...My fiance is going to the court to pay the ticket tomorrow. If anything comes back when my suspension is up, I will deny, deny, deny. My fiance is paying in cash tomorrow, therefore not using credit card or check.....I'm literally praying for this to work out!

Thanks again for you post.....have you ever heard of a situation like this before?? I haven't.

They still have plenty of time to charge you if they decide to. Denying won't do much good. I wouldn't count on this being over just yet.

NJ & PA MV agencies don't get along very well from what I've been told. PA looks down on NJ for it's DUI laws, views them as draconian (which they are when compared to PA). Sometimes PA will blow off NJ. Also NJ DMV is very screwed up. A NY DUI offender got a legal DL in NJ while suspended in NY. He just dropped his middle initial on his NJ app. He only got caught because he was dumb enough to drive drunk and cause an accident which resulted I think in a death. It was in the news. Anyway I don't think the no inspection sticker even shows up on a NJ drivers abstract. I doubt very much you will hear any more about this. If you do, please let us know. Another thing to consider is whether NJ DMV ever mailed you notice of NJ suspension. If they have your correct mailing address, and you never received notice and information on how to reinstate priveleges, then that is something to ponder.
