What is the best way to go about terminating probation?I was convicted of a mistemeanor 2nd DUI in June of 2007 and was placed on formal probation for 4 years. In April 2008 probation was modified from formal to informal. I am trying to enlist in the US Air Force ASAP and must be off of probation in order to do so. I know that it isn't legal to request termination of probation specifically to enlist in the military. So, what would be the best way to go about terminating probation? Thanks. |

| In as much as you were sentenced to four years, but you've only done one year so far, I'd say your odds are slim. Have you talked to your probation officer about it? |

Forget About The Armed ForcesThey, as you know, will never take you on probation, they also do not always take people with multiple DUI's. Here is a site, where this question comes up all the time, http://forums.military.com/1/OpenTopic. You would need waivers, etc, to get in. You are not going to get them, The Air Force, in particular, is quite selective these days. YOU, cannot simply just TERMINATE PROBATION. You forget, you got probation, in leiu of JAIL TIME. That means, you do what you are supposed to do, and we will not toss you in jail, you screw up, and we just might toss you in jail. Four years, probation, sound like, to me, this was some serious charges here, and this is your second DUI, and I am gonna guess you were probably on probation for the 1st, when you got the second, thus the four years. You may be able to terminate the probation, by telling the court, you are willing to serve your original jail sentence. That is really the only way, you can get probation TERMINATED. How old are you? I am gonna guess, not that old, and you already got TWO DUI's Hmm The Armed Forces are not probably going take you in, just based on that. The days of, go join the Military, or go to jail, are long gone. Talk to a lawer who knows how this all works, but think, you are not going anywhere soon, or anywhere fast. Hit those message boards at Miltary.Com. The Air Force is not going to just put a two time DUI, into a million dollar training progam, and a million dollar aircarft, and just let them fly around the friendly skies. Would you? |
