| what are my options now? What is the name of your state? Md
Hi, I'm a 23-year-old college graduate and am now working, but I still live in the town where I went to school. Since I graduated last year, I still have many friends who are still students and this past weekend I ended up going to one of the local bars with them. Around 1am, I decided that I wanted to go home (probably about three-miles away), and so I made the bad decision to get into my car and drive. About one-mile down the road, while waiting at a light, I notice a university police car pull up behind me, and as soon as the light turned green, the car's lights turned on so I pulled over. The officer got my license and registration and then asked me to perform a few sobriety tests. Now, subjectively, I felt I performed well, but that's up to the officer to decided and he clearly did not agree because I was taken back to the campus police station where I was asked to do a breathalyzer (sp?). I blew .15, well over the legal limit, and so I was asked to stay in the drunk tank and this whole episode lasted about maybe two-hours. The two officers were very professional and the whole thing was as unpleasant as matters such as these could possibly be. Unfortunately, my license was confiscated and I was issued a temporary one (45-days) and told I had to attend court to see about the suspension. At about three in the morning, I was let out and told I could leave (my car was about one-mile away). I walked back to my car and then drove back home. Now I know that there's no way I can plead innocent but I was wondering if there's any possible way I can avoid the suspension as I work in sales and driving is very crucial for my work. Up until now, I've had a spotless record, and this is a first offense for me, albeit a large one. Is there anything I can possibly do? Any help is appreciated, thanks. |
