WI resident-DUI in Texas

What is the name of your state? Wisconsin

I am looking for some advice on how to handle a DWI (.20 BAC-I know, really stupid!) my husband received while in Texas. If I am understanding what I have read so far, because we live in WI, the DUI conviction will not be reported in WI because it is not a member of the Inter-State Compact. Is this really true? We have talked to one attorney in Texas and he was not much help on the out-of-state issue. He explained the plea down process with the extra costs and community service, but I am not sure this makes sense to do since we don't live in Texas. My husband travels to McAllen for business several times a year and has to drive over to Mexico when he is there, so he will need to maintain some sort of occupational license. How does Texas penalize out-of-state drivers, fine amounts, suspension, etc. He finally received notice of a court date in April (though this happened in January) so any advice on how this works for out-of -state residents would be greatly appreciated!

Yes Texas WILL be able to punish the offender, even if they do live in another state. If community service is out of the question, then he'll have to take what ever punishment the judge gives that WILL work for him. But he can pretty much count on losing his DL for AT LEAST 90 day, probably more, since he can't meet the community service requirements.
