work/criminal

What is the name of your state?Pa. I had a question reguarding applications for applying for a job. My question(s) would be is a DUI considered a criminal offense on a job application? And if so why? Also is there any way to disclose this information until the person is hired? When any company sees a criminal offense, they don't bother looking any further into an application.

This is why they ask before they hire you. Can you honestly tell me if you were interviewing for a daycare position for your children that you wouldn't want to know if that person had ever been convicted of a crime..???????

Yes you need to put your DUI on the application. What I would do if I were you is answer yes to the question and then under the details part put "will provide details upon interview" and this will avoid any embarrassment on your part if the employer doesn't want hire you he won't interview you.

It's just as bad that they can use your CREDIT rating for basis for employment too... which I totally disagree with. If I am a criminal, ok then, but just because I have bad credit is NONE of anybody's business...

Believe me, it's gonna be hard for a while with a record... my brother has completely straightened out his life, and still he is turned down time and time again for something he did almost 10 years ago... just gotta deal with it...

Most criminal background checks differentiate between felony crime and misdemeanor. DUI is the latter, and that poses no theft threat to a company. I advise fully disclosing your DUI on the application. Not doing so and having them discover it will make you look dishonest. And that does have theft implications.
