Wreckless Driving?

Florida..I got a wreckless driving charge which should have been a DUI charge, but I was only a half a block from my house...the cops were escorting another criminal home when they saw me blow tha stop sign......what steps should I take to get the charge reduced so I wont get put on probation.....and what should I do to get the charge expunged?

That's reckless. We all try to drive wrecklessly.

Distance from home is not a mitigating factor. Sounds like you already got a break from DUI.
If you had been drinking, they can still send you to DUI class in addition to the fine, jail, and probation.

If you want to fight this it will take a lawyer. What makes you think you are likely to get further concessions from prosecution?

Florida expungement info is here http://www.fdle.state.fl.us/expunge/
but that's sort of putting the cart before the horse.

**A: cops were driving another criminal home? Since when do cops drive criminals home? Is this a new public service? And when you used the term " another" criminal are you suggesting that you were the "other" criminal?
I say go to court and tell the judge that the cops made a huge mistake and you demand the charge be immediately changed to a DUI charge.

I agree.

Demand that the prosecutor immediately change it to DUI.

You are a good American.

You Caught A Big Break

DUI to reckless driving, on the spot, you got real lucky. Pay the fine, shut up, and give thanks.

What do you think they should reduce it to?

They already dropped you from DUI, hell, most DUI's would kill for that reduction.

What an IDIOT.

Get a lawyer, tell them, you should have gotten a DUI, but since you were close to home, the cops hit you with only reckless, and tell them, you think, you still need the charge reduced, cause YOU do not want to go on probation.

I guess it is true, you cannot fix stupid.
