ALASKA
Can a school/school district require a $125 "activites fee" before any student is allowed to play a sport? I am a high school student who just moved up to Alaska, and am in a military family. In the 3 states that I have attended school and the numerous districts/schools no school, except for a private school I went to, required an "activities fee". My last school, a small under-funded charter school in California didn't even require a fee, they only asked for dontations.
Although I am not in an low economic standing, my questions are 1- is this legal?, 2- how is it that the school/ can require this fee?, and 3- is the school/district required to disclose the exact details on where this money is going?
Thanks,
TS
