Is a school system at fault if they knew that a student had ingested a foreign substance and did not notify the student's parents in an appropriate amount of time?

What do you mean by the term, "at fault"? Do you mean to ask if they are liable for any damages? Are you hoping to sue someone?

But, before we start traveling down that long and expensive road perhaps you'd care to elaborate on what happened. WHAT did the student ingest? When did the school have definitive knowledge of what he ingested? What did they do, and who did they call? When dd they call the parents? What is "an appropriate amount of time" to you?

Was the child harmed in any way by the delay (assuming there was one) in contacting the parents?

What are you looking at as "an appropriate amount of time?"

Generally when there is a school emergency involving a student, the emergency is handled first and parents are notified second.
