Our school system just started a new rule which states that we cant sign our children out of school between 2:45 and 3:15 !! We can sign them out between 8am and 2:45pm but not after. School lets out at 3:05pm but we can still not get our children till after 3:15pm. Is this legal ???

If a tort or crime it would false imprisonment and not kidnapping.

To really research if it were "legal" or not, a lot more facts would be needed. What state are you talking about? Why have they changed the policy? What is your reason for wanting to sign out the children at that time?

To really research if it were "legal" or not, a lot more facts would be needed. What state are you talking about? Why have they changed the policy? What is your reason for wanting to sign out the children at that time?

It shouldnt matter why i want to sign out MY child, but the answer is he had a Dr. appt and we had to reschedule ! He has had this appt for 2 months for a serious condition and now we have to wait 5 more weeks.

Nothing except i had no idea . They just started it today, and of course they gave no warning they were gonna do this. So we had to change his dr appt

The times you mention are the times the students and staff are preparing to leave the school, and staff attention (including office staff attention) needs to be directed to this task. Many schools have their office staff handle hallway lines and bus lines.

In other words, they are busy.

Just reschedule your child's appointment, and do so begrudgingly if you must, and learn for the future not to schedule appointments for the times your child cannot be checked out of the school.

This has nothing at all to do with kidnapping.

(as an additional note and something to keep in mind, most schools will not release children from the school if there is a tornado warning or police situation in the area, etc, so hope that nothing like that happens in 5 weeks)

Laws differy by state, that is why it is required for each post. In your case, there really is no legal issue so it is a moot point.

I understand that it probably takes a few min to get students ready to leave but does it really take 30 min and why are they not being released till 10 min after schools out? The other schools in the county are almost empty when our school is just letting out. Just dont get it is all !!!
