[QUOTE=CourtClerk;2290334]Obviously both the janitors and I are smarter than you and your child combined. I never signed a contract I didn't read first, and I've never had to pay for a place I didn't lay my head... that includes in college - and to think, I was a minor when I started college and STILL read the contracts. Doesn't say much for your kid (or you).

And now you're a court clerk giving legal advice. Congrats, you're big time.

I am... with my $500 still in my bank account, where it rightly belongs. Making lots of money. You probably kinda wish your daughter was a little like me right about now.

That's ok... not everyone has it in them. We won't make you feel too bad.

[QUOTE=swrdmbo;2290337]Be my guest...troll all the different websites...the answer is going to be the same. Not surprised you don't like it...you are the person that came on here looking for a way to get out of it ....because**************.

"things like this get overlooked all the time!"

Hmmm... reading my original post, you quoted this but I never typed it. Am I missing something?

Again, I wasn't looking for an answer to "fit my question". I was just looking for a direct answer without all the color commentary, especially from non lawyers.

    Thanks for you time.

I guess "lots of money" is relative, Court Clerk. Quick internet search of the range and I'm not impressed, since you brought it up.

    Cool

You are obviously unaware that I am a mind reader...and I based my posts on the thoughts I KNOW were going through your mind...

...maybe it was the easily overlooked comment...too much traffic...

I belong to 4 other legal websites where I know a majority of those here are there as well but this is the first I am reading of this question. Odd.

Also, how come when people don't like what they hear they rant off saying "This site sucks" or "I'm not coming back" only to still be here for the next 3 hours ranting on and on?

Look lady I told you that in the first response to this thread. I did not insult or coddle you. Plain and simple she should have read the contract. There are penalties.

No. She signed a contract. There is no way out of it. She has to pay, and she's lucky $500 is all she has to pay.

    Happy now?

    Read the contract.

Why did she withdraw from school?

That may be your only out.

If she withdrew for certain reasons she could not control (emergency medical treatment), or for reasons that were the responsibility of the university (promised aid not delivered), the contract may provide an out.

However having waited for it to go to collections might have sunk those boats.
