I currently live in NC, I went to school in CA and OR.

I screwed up this year and got my loans a forbearance (instead of a deferment) and racked up another thousand dollars of interest. I have a job but can't afford to pay the loans off. Is there any hope for forgiveness or some other way to get out of student debt?

If Federal loans, look into IBR. You cannot discharge student loans in bankruptcy.
