YOUR STATE NAME - My WA state college refuses to release my transcripts due to an outstanding Perkins Loan. I do not owe the institution. I am interested in repaying the loan, but need the transcripts to maintain the license in my field. Is there anything I can do?

My response:

Yes. Pay the loan.

The agreement between the lender and the school requires that the school place a hold on the transcripts until all loans are paid.

Think of it this way - -

If you take a bank loan for a car, the bank holds a "security interest" in the car until the loan is paid back to the bank. Same principle is involved here.
