| Elder Law I have a sister-in-law who has Alzheimer's.She lives with her 81 year old husband. The husband( my brother) refuses to get his wife the help she desperately needs. He has detached himself from most of the family,me, his daughter, and even her sister. The only one that he will communicate with is his son. His son has power of attorney over his father. My sister- in-law is not getting the proper care. Because she can no longer dress herself, something a hired lady used to do but my brother fired her, my sister-in-law goes to bed with her clothes on. We know this from his son and also from her sister who must beep the horn for her sister when she takes her for a day, as my brother will not allow her in the house. The House is a mess and my sister-in-law is suffering because of her husbands stubbornest.
My question is this: What can be done legally to get this poor woman out of that house and into a facility that will give her the care she needs and deserves ? It seems that everone I ask says,"nothing can be done." Is this true?
Thank you for your kind input,
