My sister is currently a resident of Hawaii, but is deployed overseas in the military. Upon deployment she entrusted all of her belongings, including her car, to a close friend. The arrangement was made for her friend to ship the car to me in Reno at my sisters expense. So my sister had a power of attorney written up so that the girl could send it. The girl was supposed to send it in Dec. It is now July. Not only has she not sent the car she has spent all of the money my sister gave her, over 6 thousand dollars, on alleged repairs, and is asking for more money. Not only did my sister's car not need repairs she did not agree to them being done. Basically this girl is trying to steal from someone completely vulnerable, and I want it to stop. How do you take her off of the power of attorney? My sister is scared this girl will take her car and that she will end up paying off the rest of a car not in her possession. The power of attorney is limited to the car, but she needs to not have that authority since she is abusing it. The most difficult part is that my sister cannot deal with this herself. Do I need a lawyer? I am a poor college student. Please any advice. I must fix this.
