What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)?
California
My mom passed away last year. She was on Medical & Medicare and received SSI. She owned her home with my father who she has been legally separated from for 27 years. I am an only child and she signed her half of the home to me under "Right of Occupancy" which I had recorded after her death. Now my father and I co-own the home.
Can Medical go after my Dad's half of the home even though they have been legally separated for so many years?
My mom had substantial credit card debt. Does this have to be paid, even though she technically has no assets in her name? Can they expect my father to pay for this?
My mom also applied for a $50,000 loan on the house yet my father did not sign for this. Is my father responsible to pay this? What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)?
