| I have a eight month old son by a married man. His wife and him have decided not to be involved with my son. paternity and support were handled through the PA court system and the father does pay his support. My question is, since we were never married do I have legal custody of my son? If not what are the advantages and disadvantages of filing for legal custody? i do hope that someday my son's father will want some sort of relationship with his son but I do not want the father showing up in five years and ask to take him for days at a time. Any advice would be really appreciated. |

| I am not going to go into the pros and cons.. just give you your course of action.. and that is to file for sole custody with no visitation. In years to come he will have to go back to court if he wants to get involved and until that time, he can not bother you with those orders in place. ------------------ Psst.. I am not an attorney, and even if I was, I would not tell you. Which technically could mean I am an attorney, but I would not tell you either way. What I am giving you is not legal advice in anyway. For proper legal advice, retain a person who openly admits they are an attorney. |
