| I am currently waiting on a court date to be set on the contested docket for my divorce hearing. My estranged husband disposed of all of my property. In the divorce I am asking for a monetary settlement for compensation of my property which I brought into the marriage. He has stated that if I am awarded any amount (whether its $1 or $2000) he will just go to jail rather than pay me a dime. I am contemplating just signing the papers and getting it over with if I have no way of getting the settlement from him. My questions are: 1) If I am awarded what would the procedure be to get the settlement? 2) Is this something that would be taken to small claims court? 3) Can his wages or income tax refund be garnished for the amount awarded? 4) Can a lien be put against his vehicle which has a clear title? Any input would be greatly appreciated. 1) |

Then, go to a bookstore and look in their "legal" section, and pick up a "How To" book on collecting judgments and debts. Or, if you have one available, a Law Book Store (perhaps one is located near a college in your town - try Yellow Pages). Follow the instructions, and get your money.
