What constitutes a "change in material circumstances" for the purpose of modifyng the amount of alimony or discontinuance of alimony? The alimony in this particular situation was awarded for the lifetime of the ex-spouse due to a long term marriage and mental disability. The ex-spouse in question currently shares an apartment with a roomate, is self-sufficient, is able to drive a car and do volunteer work and collects social security disability besides the alimony payments. Is there any possibility at all of reducing or eliminating the alimony to the ex-spouse? This divorce was granted in Connecticut.

My response:

Do you see that writing in RED up there? Without your State name, or the name of the State where the problem happened, it would be difficult to assist you. Laws are different everywhere.

Read a little closer. The last sentence will tell you where this happened.

My response:

Read a little closer yourself, Bumpy.

Our writer "edited" her question to add her state name AFTER I responded to her. Take a look at my copy of her original question in my response to her and you'll see that her state name was NEVER there.

Check the edited time and date and you will see the last sentence was added after IAAL requested the info.

At an old age, women should be happy you finish anything, never mind how fast you get there ..
