I have been going thru a divoce for over 2 years now. we went for hearing this week the 2nd one in 2 years. We were not able to be in the room with the lawers and the Judge, when they cam out my attorney said that the other side is still not sure what they want. We have been seperated for over 2 years, and both want to get this over with, I said I woud give half of everything. But her lawer says the judge wants to give Alimony for life
Now we both work and have good jobs, i make about 20M more gross. the marrage was for 30 years. Now they say the judge has a chart and $300.00 is for life with the 30 years marriage, but he has never seen any infomation about our income about either of us,can he just say $300.00 for life and that is it. Is there somethingI can do help myself in this matter, my attorney even told me this would be what the judge would say 2 years ago before any filings. i am upset with my attorney that nothing is moving and after 2 years we are at the same place, is there something I can do. All i know is thatI have paid out a lot of money and when we went for the hearing Monday it was the same thing I was told last hearing April, 1999 Is there something I can do to show that the $300.00 for life is un fair????

As with many of these situations it doesn't sound like your lawyer is doing very much. It might be time to get a new one. I don't know what state you are in but $300/mo. is low compared to what Pennsylvania requires. PA goes by the formula 40% of difference in net income = monthly alimony payment. My friend (who is in a situation much like yours) might have to pay $800/mo. Check into what you may have to pay if the judge does decide to look at your finances. Good luck.
