Question

A friend of mine is going thru a divorce in Michigan. He has to go to court today for a hearing on Spousal Support. They were married for 20 years. They have 1 child togather, which he has full custody of. His soon to be ex has worked on and off for the past 20 years, and currently was working part time. However, we found out that she is also working a second job.

He moved out last November. The house is paid off. They have a home improvement loan, which he fully pays every month. He pays the car and house insurance every month. His daughter came to live with him on New Years Eve. The ex would not let the daughter take any of her personal belongings. She slapped the child across the face and hit her several times and told her never to come back. So, he had to go out and buy all new clothes, personal products, school supplies, plus a bed, dresser, etc.

Because he has his daughter and still pays for everything from the marital home, other than utilities, what do you think his chances are that he will not have to pay spousal support??

The soon-to-be ex pays $8 per week to him for child support.

Any support would be appreciated. Thanks
