| Annulment is not the easy "wipe the slate clean" solution everyone seems to think it is. There are specific state statutes that define the conditions under which an annullment may be granted and despite what seems to be common thought - it actually has nothing to do with the legnth of the marriage. I would suggest checking with an attorney in your area on the specifics but typically the reasons an annullment would be granted are - - duress (against ones will), mental incapacitation(inability to know what they were doing), bigomy (already married), fraud (failure to disclose fertility issues, criminal history, addictions, etc.) - so in all actuality you most likely will be going through a divorce. If it is any consulation the specifics you did cite - no kids, no joint-property, married less than 10 years would make you a candidate for a "summary dissoulution" - the easiest of divorces to file/complete (experience there)....talk to an attorney to be sure but this seems to be the direction you will be headed. Prayers be with you |

I thought it was a most cogent statement of generalized law. Nice job. Too bad Baachus didn't think so. | Well, the advice I offer is based on legal fact and not on making people feel better about their problems.....apparently not an effective way to make friends, but that isn't the purpose of this board anyway! Oh well......But thank you, IAAL, the compliment is appreciated even if the advice wasn't!
