Question
My ex-wife is taking me to court over back child support owed. I lost my job and have been trying to catch up and have been pretty diligent; however, she is impatient. If I file joint with my wife, can the ex take our entire refund for arrearages?

Your new wife can file papers to get back the part of the refund that she actually earned herself. As far as your part, kiss it goodbye!
