Currently involved in a divorce. Retained my former atty. over a year and a half ago. Was issued a court date of which I obtained. I was informed by her that her case load was too demanding, and planning for her upcoming wedding proved to be too taxing for her. Therefore, I was "farmed out" ( her own words) to find yet another atty. This was done 6 weeks before the court date. Now after finding another atty. paying for retainers and legal fees, I am still getting bills from
the first atty. I feel I was not adequately represented and would like to know what my rights are and what legal actions I can take.
Thanks to her actions my new court date is now 6 months away, adding to yet more monies being paid by me. What are my options PLEASE!!!

My response:

Contact the Maryland State Bar Association and ask for Fee Dispute Arbitration forms.
