My husband and I reconciled after a year and a half separation. A guardian at litem had been assigned to our case, and we had each paid him $400.00. When we reconciled, we were given a bill of about $2,500. Neither of us expected it to be this much, and we are unable to borrow the money to pay him. We had been making payments, but fell behind when my husband changed jobs. We have every intention of paying him when we can, but now are facing contempt of court charges. What should we do? Also, the guardian never gave us a statement of what he was billing us for, and we do not feel what he actually did justifies a bill of $2,500. Is it worth trying to reach a compromise? We live in Ohio. |
