I have joint custody of my 15 yr old daughter. She lives with me and sees her mother everyother weekend and a month in the summer. Several months ago my daughter had a sexual experience short of intercorse, with a 15 yr old boy in the same apartment complex. Her mother lives 60 miles away. My ex sees nothing wrong with this and with several warnings from me to not let her see this boy again, it still to this day continues. My ex refuses to speek with me. I wrote her a letter last week after learning that my daughter was allowed to go over to this boys house to watch a movie during her last visit. This letter stated again my ill feelings about her approval of this relationship. My daughter came home today and told me her mother said that she has put to much effort into this boy to throw it all away. So it still continues. I am so affraid of her becoming pregnant or worse an STD. At 15 she doesn't understand the consequences of her actions. Isn't this a form of child abuse by her mother for allowing this activity to continue? Should I contact CPS? I have told my ex that if this continues that I would seek for supervised visitation. This too seems to have no effect on her decision in this matter. What do I do now? We both live in Texas.

I think your best course of action here is to education your daughter in the consequences of her actions and to make her wise to the problems associated with having sex.

Going after the mother will just be a waste of time and money.. and the daughter may just get pissed at you and find other ways. Put your effort into the problems with your daughter and not the mother.

Thank you. I have talked my head off to her about consequences and she laughs at me. I havn't contacted any authorities yet but still considering before next visit to her moms. We all know that teenagers get mad at thier parents from time to time because they don't understand. Getting them to understand can be a problem sometimes. I still feel very strongly that by her mother allowing this relationship to continue is a form of child abuse.
