| I am separated and want to begin the process of a divorce. I went to see a paralegal last week and she was very helpful, but friends are telling me that I should not waste my time with a paralegal and should just go get a lawyer if I know that he is going to fight me. What is the difference between the two? I also have a young child and he is threatning to sue for full custody, or wants to have her every other week effective immediately. What can I do about obtaining temporary custody until it is either mutually decided or goes to court? I was told that once you file for divorce that you have temporary custody, is that true? Thanks |

Thanks[/b]

A paralegal can not give you legal advice. From what you have said, you need an attorney and you need one now. Do not allow him visitation until you have spoken to one and retained them. Once you file for divorce or legal seperation then everything 'freezes' from that point. ------------------ Psst... I do not work for Macdonald’s or Burger King, and even if I did, I would not tell you. For sloppy bread, tired tomatoes, frozen onions, watered down mayonnaise and imitation meat, please find a drive through window with a person who openly admits they make that stuff. My advice above is equal to the advice they would give if you asked that person a legal question. |
