My husband and I have been minority custody parents of his son for all of his life. He is 11. His mom died of cancer in August and he was with us for visitation. We immediately enrolled him in grief counseling, began the trasition to a new school, he began playing football, etc. Things were going very well. Then one day the police showed up and told us that they had an order to remove him from our home, and they did so. The order was an out of state order of which we were never served and had no opportunity to respond therefore the order was entered and our child removed. We have spent in excess of $9,000.00 and have not yet had a hearing. The judge placed our son with his half-brother (the exact person who filed the petition based on totally false allegations). The judge who signed the order moved to a different county, the new judge was on vacation then only order everyother weekend visitation for us in the meantime(until a hearing). A guardian was appointed who is on medical leave. A psychiatrist was appointed that does not take court appointments, and we are left in limbo, our child gone, no hearing, no evaluations done, etc. It is as if everyone is just passing the buck. Meanwhile, we could lose our home because of the costs of litigation...what can we do. We feel as if the entire system has failed us and this can go on forever....Our rights as parents and our civil rights were violated and what about the rights of our son to have access to his parents? He is being manipulated by his half-brother and the whole situation is sickening, but noone seems to have answers for us. Help please! |
