| I'm from South Dakota and got married 12 years ago to a woman with 2 children who are now 18 and 14 years old. The natural father gave up parental rights 10 years ago to duck child support. The judge allowed it because I was to adopt the children. Well its been 10 years and that has not happened. More or less that excuse was used so the mother, my wife could get this guy out of her life. Since then I have brought up adoption several times and it is ignored by my wife. Well as things come to pass I am think of leaving my wife and I am woundering what my responsibilities are to the children? | Strange the judge allowed it without the adoption.. anyway, unless you signed papers, you are not liable for the children. However, considering how much of their life you have been in, I think morally, you should think about some support and visitation. If the mother refuses then you have no choice.. |
