child support

my husband's son, my stepson is sueing us for support. He has been in jail, never held a job for more than 2 weeks at a time. He hates rules and has not lived at home since the age of 17. He lived in a rehab for the last 2 years and when he left, he was employed, quit the job and went to florida. He is back in New York now and wants support from us. Are we liable for this support?

Has he, in fact, filed a Petition and served the same to you or is this a threat? Is he the named Petitioner, or is his mother/father? Is he represented by an attorney in this matter, or is he filing on his own behalf? Please answer all questions.
