| My ex has been gone for 6.5 years, owing over $70,000 in support. Can I declare him decease and get SS for my kids, if I'm not sure he's alive, and how do I do this? I live in Maryland, by him being gone I mean that he left the state after we left him. Child support enforcement can't locate him, he also has several bench warrants out for his arrest. He is hiding very well, I don't believe he is dead, but how to collect support from someone like that. | what do you mean by he is "gone"? did he just get up and leave you and say good-bye? did he just disappear and is missing? did you report him missing through the law? i am just wondering and i think that for you to declare him deceased it takes a lot more than him just "being gone". i am just assuming that you would have had to report him as missing back then and then it would also still take a few years before he can be declared deceased. SOMEBODY HELP OUT HERE, I WOULD REALLY LIKE TO KNOW THE ANSWER TO THIS ONE. I AM LEARNING SO MUCH FROM THIS SITE. THANKS GUYS. |
