Question

In New Jersey...til what age of the child do I have to continue to make support payments. And what responsiblity do I have if the child goes to college? Do I have to continue the support while the child is attending college or do I have to pay for college?

I tried finding the statutes for child support orders, none of them mentioned the age limitations for support. I would suggest you look at your support order . It should state something along the lines of *until the child reaches the age of 18, completes High Shool, becomes emancipated, (and quite possibly) not beyond the 19th birthday*

Oh no.. you were doing so well!! .. try this, http://www.judiciary.state.nj.us/csguide/index.htm

NJ does have provisions for college support and CS is standard, ie, 18 and leave highschool but not beyond 19.

Thanks LB, I found the statutes and support order guidelines, but they kept referring to age of majority...
