I have a friend who is in the Corps of Cadets here at Texas A&M University. He is completely miserable and wants to quit. His parents, however, have forbidden him from leaving the Corps and have said that they will not pay for his school if he does. Many of his friends and even other parents have tried to discuss it with his parents as has he, but they refuse to let him quit. He is 18 and so a legal adult but is still considered a dependent of his parents. Is there anything he can do to keep his parents from acting on their threat?
