I have a friend who is a divorced small town physician. He is currently "cohabitating" with his girlfriend. Their relationship is always in turmoil and he is finally considering terminating it. I have contributed $150,000.00 for a joint business venture of ours. We signed no contract, and all I have is the cancelled check for an "X number of shares" in a corporation that at this time, do not yet exsist. I have now learned that to protect his assets from his ex-wife, he has placed all of his holdings in his girlfriends name. Since this relationship may be ending soon, do I have legal recourse with the girlfriend, who DOES NOT LIKE ME AT ALL!!? What are the common law rules for Oklahoma? What would the community property distribution be? And, if he met with an untimely demise would I be able to recover the monies? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanking you in advance.
