Please let me tell you why I hope you reconsider. I'm in this custody battle that got very difficult to fight this summer when biomom realized she was related to an indian tribe, and asked the tribe to intervene in my guardianship. The tribe said that I violated icwa and motioned to move my case to tribal court. Knowing what a tall order fighting indians would be, I went looking for a lawyer -at any price- that could help me and even though I contacted more than 50 lawyers in a few days, every last one of them had no idea what icwa involved. One even said that he thought we killed all the indians. I was a mess thinking about the possibility of loosing this little girl (to the whims of this tribe) with no one to help me and I wrote here for advice and you wrote back with about 30 icwa custody cases where state courts got to keep jurisdiction. That was a huge help at a time when I was so scared that this was hopeless. Know what happened with my case? My state kept jurisdiction. The act isn't going to apply to this case, and I no longer have to worry about a little girl (whom I couldn't love more) ever seeing the inside of a foster home on some indian reservation. Do you think Timc and company would have had any cases or laws to cite or had any useful information for me? I hardly think so. Your absence would leave these people to advise unsuspecting people in (sometimes) desperate situations. Being in a once desperate situation, I can't at this time think of anything more scary. I hope you at least come back to read this...Thank You

TimC and company? I assure you I had nothing to do with IAAL leaving the board. Through IAAL's own words you can see that he left on a voluntary basis. If you go back and read every one of my posts I merely pointed out what should have been blatantly obvious to everyone. I did so in a very diplomatic way, that I think was fair to IAAL as well. I recognized that he is/was valuable asset to the board, and made it clear that his legal abilities were not questioned. Read for comprehension, then think, then type. Regards, Tim

Lillian, I'm glad to hear the advice you received on this site helped you to keep the little girl you love. I just think it's unfortunate that the person from whom you received that advice destroyed their credibility with me and so many others by slamming another woman who also came here seeking help in a legal matter. IAAL may have helped you and many others here with legal advice but it sure is a shame that he couldn't just stick to giving advice, or even witholding it if he preferred not to share it for whatever reason. I came here as a new member looking for advice I need very much but after what I've read here I don't trust IAAL to help me. He just seems way too erratic and out of control. You see, I'm in a somewhat desperate situation myself right now and I simply can't afford to rely on the advice of an attorney who so easily lets his emotions cloud his judgement. I am relieved, however, to be finding other resources. There ARE other attorneys out there with answers and a willingness to help pro bono... and the one I've met thus far behaves much more professionally than IAAL. Scarlet
