North Carolina law says that I must live in the state for 6 months before I can file for a divorce, and it can only be finalized after a full year of separation. My husband and I want a no-contest divorce, but we have only lived here for 4 months. Can we file in Tennessee, our state of former residence and where the marriage took place? Or must we wait out the North Carolina laws?
