Situation:
Stepfather died, no will, no life insurance, nadda. Though workers' comp. is to be sought. Civil suit pending criminal case outcome? Stepfather has 2 kids from prior marriage, living overseas: ages 20, and 16. 20-year-old supposedly under stepfather's custody. How will compensation and civil settlement pan out between my mother, my brother who lives with them, and the two step-siblings?

A source stated that the step-siblings will have to pursue civil suits on their own. Is this correct? What other concerns should we be aware of?
