domestic violence

My ex-boyfriend recently attacked me and I had to visit the ER. My insurance covered about half of it and sent me a bill for the other half. In no way do I believe that I should have to pay for this. I have tried all I can to take care of this matter legally. For example, I've filed a petition for a protective order against my ex, but he skipped town and NO ONE can find him. I want to press charges, but I have been treated like a dog instead of like a victim by the law in my area. My question is...what can I do to make my ex pay ($$) for the violent crime he committed against me??? Will I have to pay the insurance company out of my pocket for getting beat up???? I appreciate your advice and any
help you can offer.

Contact the hospital. They have brochures and application regarding your State's "Victims of Violent Crimes" Fund. All you have to do it apply for it. There's money waiting for you.
