My fiance's ex wife is taking the child out of state ( to Kansas from where we live in Texas) and leaving her with her parents, the child's grandparents. They left this morning. She gave us no written notice, like it says she has to do in the divorce decree, only told us a couple of days ago that she would be going. When she comes back down here, and the child gets enrolled in school up there, wouldn't we be able to get her for abondenment, and then be a ble to get full custody? In the past she has kept her from us on our scheduled weekends and the police said their was nothing they could do because it was a civil matter. We without a lawyer have filed two contempt of court papers on her through the court house. If the child stays in Kansas I am sure she will not make aby effort to keep the childs relatonship with her father. Isn't this considered to be detremental? She was raised here and only knows this town and her relatives here, which she did not even get to say goodbye to. Please help, we really can't afford to get a lawyer. Can we go to Kansas and get the child from the grandparents if the mother comes back to Texas?

Snoppy, how do I file for a change in custody? Can I do that without a lawyer?

If I file for a change in custody, can I then get a court date without a lawyer?
