A sixteen year old, a resident of Iowa, has a baby and believes that baby has been given up in a private, closed adoption. Meanwhile mother of 16 yr old has arranged surreptiously to give the newborn to the older sister by ten years who is married,infertile and living in another state. In order to avoid having the birth mother be suspicious of the coincidental adoption, the older sister's family celebrates the new baby's birthday a week later than is officially recorded on the birth certificate. What are legal ramifications of using a false birthdate by the child, unknowingly, as s/he grows up? by the parents knowingly? |
