Question

If I'm in Florida and deadbeat dad is in Tenessee. Who should I hire to take the form for release of parental rights to his house and make sure he signs it before a notary public and two witnesses? He has agreed to sighn the form but I just dont trust him to do so. I know a lawyer in TN who is willing to have dad come in and sign the form, but I not so sure he will do that either. I'm wondering if the same people who serve subpoenas would be able to have him sign this form.
Thank You
Loving Stepfather.

Thumbs up

It is always so wonderful to hear of a situation like yours that seems to be going the right way! I want to first of all say that loving step-fathers that want to adopt their step-children are some of the most wonderful men in the world! (I should know as I am married to one) I am also happy to hear that at least the bio-dad in your case is man enough to let the best for his child happen and let you adopt....not all of us are so lucky to have that happen. My suggestion, is to contact the county courthouse in the county where the "deadbeat" lives ..... aprise them of your situation and seek their advice on how to proceed ....in the case of my custody battle I was in another state as well and was able to work through them for service of the papers......a good place to start and even if they can't do it they may be able to tell you who can. You mentioned a lawyer....perhaps he can help you come up with a solution other than the one he has of having bio-dad come in .....he may be able to contact a lawyer in that area who could facilitate the signing! Good luck and God Bless!!!!!
